Installing your rackmount power distribution unit is not a difficult task as long as you make sure you have the right components and tools. Let’s get started!
Before you install your PDU refer to the product manual to make sure your unit shipped with all of the necessary hardware required for proper installation. This list can be found in Chapter 2 of the manual.
Generally, this is the mounting hardware included with our PDUs:
- Vertical models -
Two removable flanges with four M4 screws. Two mounting L-brackets with nut plates, four sets of screws and washers. Optional button mounts. - Horizontal models -
Two removable L-brackets with M4 screws.
You will also need flathead and phillips screwdrivers, as well as screws, washers and nuts to attach the PDU to your rack.
Horizontal/Rack Mounting
- Select the appropriate bracket mounting points for proper mounting depth within the rack.
- Attach the L-brackets to these mounting points with two screws for each bracket.
- Install the enclosure into your rack, using the slots in each bracket. The slots allow about 1⁄4 inch of horizontal adaptability to align with the mounting holes of your rack.
NOTE: A mounting bracket kit for 23” wide racks or cabinets is available. Contact a PDUs Direct Representative for more information.
Vertical/Zero U Mounting
- Attach the removable flanges to the mount points on the rear of the enclosure using M4 screws.
- Attach the mounting L-brackets to the flanges with the supplied screws, washers and nut plates. The slots allow about 11⁄2 inches of vertical adaptability.
- Attach the top and bottom brackets to your rack.
Optionally, the supplied button mounts may be used for mounting the PDU into cabinets supporting this method of equipment mounting.
That’s it! You are now ready to connect your power cord and devices to your power distribution unit.
